Atopic Dermatitis on Yena

Got worried last night when we went home and saw Yena's rashes all over her body. I knew from then i would not be reporting for work next day, i was bothered. Yena has a very sensitive skin, i remember her first hospitalization last year was because of rashes too, which we initially thought was measles but her pedia concluded it was viral exanthem. Though her case was nothing serious that time, i stored alnix drops just to be sure that when another allergy come up i would be ready.

This morning, upon seeing her, the pedia asked what did she ate the day after the rashes became visible. It was just porridge my mother told her. The doctor said it might be atopic dermatitis now, another allergy of the skin.

She was still the jolly and energetic toddler that she is, she even showed her many tricks to the delight of her pedia.! But I was told that when she got fever and was not as cheerful that she was this morning we have to bring her back for another examination.

I was prescribed another alnix drops and caladryl lotion for her skin. The sad thing was there are lots of food to stay away from. She is a voracious eater and i love seeing her eat that way.. But these scores of foods that she has to avoid are some of her favorites :(

Foods to avoid for skin allergy to name a few are:

red meat of chicken (thigh, neck, wings)
eggs / poultry products
watermelon, ripe mango and melon (is it honeydew in english?)
chocolates
peanuts and peanut butter

I hope that little Yena will get well soon. I have young niece and nephews too and it is bad to see them having rashes too; they always seemed so uncomfortable when they had rashes.

Mare, Im using the Cetaphil for YL's skin bec he has atopic too especially it's winter here. Glad that it all subside now.

At least his case wasnt that worst though. We put humidifier in our room and it helps too.

Hope and pray that little Yena will be ok very soon. Cheer up Mare..

i am also using cetaphil since sam came home to us. i have no problems about rashes, and skin allergies kasi i am' assured that her skin is safe. it is a bit expensive than the normal baby soap niks, but it's worth it. am sure, that will just go away niks. at least, di matamlay si yena. that's a good sign. ingat kayo parati jan.

Poor Yena, white meat na lang ng chicken ang pwede, pitso..tabang non. Well, if she has to avoid food that will give her allergy,t hen I guess, she doesn't have any choice but to not eat it. I hope she grows out of it..I am allergic to small shrimp. My whole body will have lots of "pantal", and my eyes, face, butt cheeks will swell like crazy..
