How i wish..

i see you always running..
OR sitting pretty after a tiring day..
OR just making faces when i ask you to smile..
How i wish you can also run away from sickness..

How i wish that you and i will always be sitting at the top of a mountain like Mt Tapias, just relaxing and making happy faces together..

I just wish that a little minutes before i went home today..

YOU ARE WELL.

Attack of the Mouth Blisters

Yena has mild fever since thursday night and has been excessively salivating. We thought she is again teething. Friday afternoon my mother saw some blisters and again it is an agony of seeing my daughter cries for almost the whole weekend that weakens me.

She has mouth sprays which her previous pedia prescribed on her herpangina checkup last january, we used it on her but then when she lost voice because of unstoppable crying even when carried we rushed her to her pedia saturday. It was hard to see her crying and not even your touch and comforting words can stop her from crying. I was sad to see her milk consumption of 5 bottles a day lessen to not more than 3 bottles. And what's more sad than leaving her this morning to my mother coz i have to report to work. :(

I just hope that she feels better today.

Mommy Moments - Doctor Doctor Am i Sick?

mommy moments
These are the photos when our daughter Yena was hospitalized last Sept 28, 2008. She has unusual rashes all over her body. We thought it was Dengue so we rushed to the ER of De La Salle. Since her pedia wasn't available we were told that she need to be admitted and wait for next day.

She was all smiles at the ER. She cries when sick and wants to be always carried by her daddy but she is still the happy baby that she is..

And then for the next few hours, she wailed loudly while the nurses were trying to put her an IV/dextrose. Husband and i couldn't stand it anymore so we talked to the doctor in charge if we can spare her the pain of that IV, he told us to sign the waiver, and i did!
Yena was diagnosed with Viral Exanthem but it was not that serious her pedia said. We went out of the hospital after 3 days.

Atopic Dermatitis on Yena

Got worried last night when we went home and saw Yena's rashes all over her body. I knew from then i would not be reporting for work next day, i was bothered. Yena has a very sensitive skin, i remember her first hospitalization last year was because of rashes too, which we initially thought was measles but her pedia concluded it was viral exanthem. Though her case was nothing serious that time, i stored alnix drops just to be sure that when another allergy come up i would be ready.

This morning, upon seeing her, the pedia asked what did she ate the day after the rashes became visible. It was just porridge my mother told her. The doctor said it might be atopic dermatitis now, another allergy of the skin.

She was still the jolly and energetic toddler that she is, she even showed her many tricks to the delight of her pedia.! But I was told that when she got fever and was not as cheerful that she was this morning we have to bring her back for another examination.

I was prescribed another alnix drops and caladryl lotion for her skin. The sad thing was there are lots of food to stay away from. She is a voracious eater and i love seeing her eat that way.. But these scores of foods that she has to avoid are some of her favorites :(

Foods to avoid for skin allergy to name a few are:

red meat of chicken (thigh, neck, wings)
eggs / poultry products
watermelon, ripe mango and melon (is it honeydew in english?)
chocolates
peanuts and peanut butter

Herpangina and my Yena

Last week, yena had a day of decreased appetite, a day only thank God. I got worried early monday morning when she didn't want to be fed. She cried for no reason and she was droooling excessively. Just as hubby was at work at that monday morning, i asked my mother to accompany us to her Pedia.
Look at her, still smiling! ;) Blisters would not make her frown on photos, atta girl!
Her pedia said she has herpangina or mouth blisters, it was painful for a baby so they dont want to eat, fluid intake would help so i was advised to give her lots of water if she resist her milk. There was no prescribed antibiotics for blisters, so to ease her pain i was told to buy her a mouth spray, that was so effective. The next day she was back to her voracious self and said GOODBYE BLISTERS!! :D hahahah

Here are some of her photos at her pedia.. She just cant help playing..

Reaching and enjoying every toy she could take a grab!!

An Ultimatum

I brought her back to her pedia yesterday. She is not responding well to her antibiotic, because until yesterday she was not feeling better. Her medication was changed from Clarithromycin to Zithromax. Really, medicine scares a lot of me. But i wanted to see her back to her playful self, i miss her laugh already!

Like an ultimatum, her pedia said that if until two days she is not getting well, we have to go back and she has to be admitted to the hospital. Again, it shakes me from the inside.

Just a month ago, we stayed in the hospital for 2 days and the thought of staying again at the hospital is not a pleasant news. First, i do not want her to have an IV (intravenous / dextrose) it was a struggle before, her veins was too invisible. Second, i and husband agreed that when she has to be admitted, we will (no matter what!) sign again for a waiver, everything but never an IV on her!

Aside from the medication on her colds and flu, she has to be nebulized four times a day or every six hours. She resist being nebulized now, i dont know why. She wails and fights back kicking. Now means sleepless nights again, cause we have to nebulize her when she is at sleep.

I just wish that she gets well soon. Or if i will not be blogging the days after tomorrow, that means we are at the hospital looking after her.

Very sad mommy here.

still sick

mild pneumonia, her pedia said. a visit to her pedia last saturday made me realize that yena had been there everytime we bring her some place. It started last july, and monthly after when we have to attend weddings or birthdays of a friend, soon after she will get colds then flun then pedia visit then medication.

now it has been our pact not to let her out of the house until she is one year old. i know we cant shield her from sickness, but getting virus when we're out of the house is something we cant disregard.

Nebulizer

Just after we went home from a friend's wedding last saturday, i knew yena catch some colds. The morning after she had flu already. Since last night, we had been nebulizing her just to help her breathing.

When she will not get well until tomorrow, we have to get her to her pedia already!! :(
