On Her Own!

Yena learned to wear her own socks and shoes months ago. She is very particular with her shoes, she takes care of them, put them on their own boxes every time. Sometimes, she is an OC toddler but sometimes she can make a lot of mess inside the house! ^_^

Glad that i was able to capture her independent moment last weekend...

Pause.. Smile..

Little Story Maker

You know how much patience you need to arm yourself when you have a toddler? Mountain full!

Yena is so talkative to the highest degree nowadays. She talks and talks like there’s no more tomorrow. Everything has a story, from her toys down to our dog potchi. Now you think that all of them happened? No. Some of her stories are made up! Now is the time that her imagination is running wild.

Last time she told my mother that my MIL and I had a misunderstanding. My mother asked me what happened and if it’s true. Poof! That’s a big lie. My MIL and I get along very well. Told that foolish story to my husband and we both had a good laugh. Oh my.

Last night, while I was trying to fix my prepaid internet connection, she kept on bugging me for a lot of things endlessly. While talking to SMART representatives she butt in and asked me? Mom, who’s that? Why Mom? Why aren't you listening to me mom? Mom, what are you doing?!

No, I don’t complain about her being talkative and all. I find it amusing actually. And I know I will miss this stage when she grows up.

Yena Singing Papuri sa Diyos and Alleluia

I have shared on my other blogs that husband and i have been a choir in our church for 8 years now. So every saturday night at choir practice, Yena would sing with us. Husband now plays the guitar but he was once the bass while i am in alto group.

Now Yena would sing with us every time husband and i rehearse at home, here's her video singing Papuri sa Diyos

And here's another video of her singing Alleluia on alto tune..

I dream of serving the Lord through music with my whole family and i hope that dream will come true.. Husband playing the instrument while yena and I singing songs of praise.. ^_^

Yena’s current Tune

I am a proud mother. My daughter sings two songs of praise – glory to god and alleluia. Note: on alto tune. I want her to be a choir member someday, or join me and her daddy on our choir. Luckily, I can see it happening soon. Every weekend, husband plays his guitar while Yena is singing with him. Pure music to the soul and I am loving it.

Now we can bond through music. I wonder if I can persuade her to join me in blogging or browse through the T-shirt Guy blog, she hates it when I am in front of my laptop. But with the way she arranges our laundry basket nightly, I can sense she has some organizing style. So creating some custom t shirt in the near future will be easy as a pie. What with her love for food? I know she will do big on Food t-shirts business.

She got some good tune and is into organizing at this early so a little persuading and encouragement will make her what she will be best in her life. And I heard her singing bad romance last night, I don’t know what to react when she becomes the next Lady Gaga, oh my. But if that’s what her heart sings how can I say no?

My Little Helper

I have a little helper at home. It is such a treat to see my daughter folding clothes with me and keeping them in the cabinet. She loves to sweep the floor too. The slippers should not be left at the door, she wants them under the chair near the door. Closing the door, turning on the electric fan, turning on and off the lights at the bathroom is her favorite duty at home. She keeps the shoes at the shoe rack in order too. She isn’t messy when in the mood. But when in bad mood, her toys would be all over the house. Hahah.

Last night, while having dinner she told me. ‘Mommy bilhan kita RC kay nanay’ (Mommy, I will buy you RC to Grandmother) My mother has a little store near our house, by the way. I told her I still have coke in the fridge but she insisted. I gave her the money and she went back with the RC and a smile on her face. She is just two but she acts like four! She was talking a lot while I was eating. Asking me where her daddy is. And when I told her, daddy is still at work. She answers with baket nasa office pa?

Now is the start of the WHYs and I have to prepare myself for ANSWERS! ;)

Mini Mao

I am very proud of my talkative toddler. Nightly when we would be at her tito joey's wake she would always hug and kiss her tita tata (aka jean and joey's widowed wife) and say; tita tata wag na iyak ha (tita tata please don't cry anymore). She would gladly stay beside her tita jean all the time, at that young age she knows how to give comfort already..

Yena and her Mini Mao

She named her toys very differently now, her stuff toy Chubby has a new name now and she calls it PAPA BEAR. Plus Mini Mao, her new minnie mouse stuff toy from her ninang joan, she named it MINI MAO.

And before i forget, we have a dog at home i planned to call OREO - and we are now calling him POTCHI - alas, yena gave that name to our poor dog! that's one of her favorite gummy candy.

Last night, i told her about our planned april getaway with her godmother (whom she calls mommy umma) and her son YL plus tita kathy from davao. There's an endless chant of mommy umma and Yl already at home.. And she has been bugging me like crazy to take her to fishes, dolphins and tigers already!

Letter to your 2nd birthday

Dearest Boyenggay,

Exactly two years ago, I was scheduled for my prenatal checkup that my OB told me you are about to go out. I was 4cm dilated; you were 36 weeks and 2 days old fetus. At 12pm to 8pm at the delivery room and from 8pm to 845pm at the operating room – I felt NO PAIN. I have prayed hard to God to at least relieve me of any labor pains, and deliver you to be healthy. How could I ask for more? You are one healthy baby girl and God gave me the easiest pregnancy and delivery ever!

Now that you always tease mommy of ‘sugat’ (wound) at my tummy I would always tell you, that’s where you came from! In a swift your reply would be a modest laugh – smiling widely with your hands in your mouth. You would not understand much now but I know later you will. You came through my tummy, but most especially from my heart. I have wished for you… I have asked the Heavens for you. You are my most precious. You are God’s greatest gift to me!

I love you more than you ever know baby. Happy 2nd Birthday!

The Little Parrot

Last night, the little parrot attacked. She was talking nonstop again. I did my grocery time last night and when I arrived home, she has been asking me of her ‘pasalubong’. And she wanted something particular, her Minute Maid Mango Orange juice.

(This was the other night, she was laughing while calling herself KULOT and asked me to take her pictures)

When I arranged all my grocery items and had to step on a chair, she told me – ‘mommy baba dyan, laglag ka dyan, iyak ka sige’ oh I had to laugh. My daughter talks a lot and it never ends once it starts.

While watching TV, she saw a baby and told me.. ‘mommy wawa baby oh!’ and get her crab stuff toy and acted like a mommy while saying ‘tong tong sleep na, kumot ka’ And then once in a while would sing, dance and imitates the commercial on TV.

I have been telling her that we will have a date on her 2nd birthday on Friday and she would smile widely and would put her hands on her mouth modestly. And I have to wish she stays this way longer.. She is growing up sooo fast!

Endless Talking

Yena talks a lot these days. The other night, while I was cooking our dinner she called me and showed her book of lambs and said, BABOY (pig). I told her, No It’s lamb. She answered me back, MOMMY BABOY KA (mom you are a pig). I was laughing and asked her, Sinong Baboy? She replied BABOY DADDY.

Last night, I read her the story of Christmas twice and I was like a broken record already. So I told her to read the story for me, she pointed at the pictures and said ERI, OTEP, ISAS (Mary, Joseph, Jesus) UTOM (GUTOM).. AIN (KAIN) while laughing I asked her what’s next and she replied UWA (TUWA). I don’t know where she got that story line. But there was a line in the book that says Mary and Joseph was tired in Betlehem.. Maybe she thought that being tired is like being hungry.

When we were at Coron Airport waiting for our plane for almost six hours we stayed at a nearby cottage near the souvenir shops. I saw a little kid snob Yena. Yena saw that too and she told me, MOMMY BATA AWAY YUN (the kid snobs me, she likes a fight). After awhile the kid came back and gave Yena a polvoron. Yena smiled and said TENCHU (thank you). After the kid went away Yena told me, MOMMY BATA BAIT (the kid is kind mom). That was her first ever clear sentences I have heard from her. While eating her polvoron at the airport she would say, MOMMY BIGAY BATA BAIT (the kid was nice she gave me polvoron).

Every time there would be a fight between her and her cousins she would warn them with these lines. SUMBONG MOMMY.. SUMBONG DADDY.. The other night when I was scolding her, she cried and said, MOMMY BAD SUMBONG DADDY (mom‘s bad I’ll tell dad).

I have a very talkative 21 months old toddler I know and I love it!How about you? Does your toddler talk too much too?

Caught Counting!

Oh, boy! I finally captured my 21 months old daughter counting from one to ten last night! :) She learned how to count when she was 19 months old but she mastered detailing them "clearly" at 20 months. She can also count in tagalog (isa hanggang sampu!). And boy, she sings bahay kubo, pakitong kitong and a whole lot barney's songs! :)

That was her second set of enumerating one to ten so she seemed irritated, but she is always like that when she sensed that am capturing her every move.

How about you? When did your child started to count?

Mommy Moments - My Favorites

mommy moments
For this week's theme of mommy moments as my daughter's favorites i chose this three pics that show her three fave things from among her many favorite things..

I guess she loves all her stuff toys equally but what stands out is her liking to this yellow pillow with a spongebob print. That is her favorite pillow of all! The pillow should be with her before sleeping time or you will hear her endless chit chats of 'abab' 'abab' or spongebob :)
From among her favorite to play with is my wallet. She always gets it at my bag and continuously point at one picture to another saying: daddy, mommy, yeng yeng and so on and so forth :)
Her favorite past time includes watching her barney cd and reading her books. When she feels like reading before going to bed she would get any of her books and say 'mommy read book' and point at every pictures in the book..
Her favorite snacks includes yakult, moo or chuckie chocolait and lychee jelly ace. She knocks the refrigerator and says what she wants.. Her favorite food is rice with any soup. Her favorite expression as of the moment is AYAW (no). AYAW for her is a joke just to tease anybody that's talking to her. Ask her anything and she quickly replies with AYAW, AYAW, AYAW. Which sometimes disappoints me especially if i am asking for a kiss :(

Click the badge above and join us every week on mommy moments, it is always fun! see u!

20 Joyful Months

Our boss of the house is 20 months old today. Last night, she showed all over again her very mischievous side while I was folding our laundry clothes. She kept on saying TUPI (fold) while creating a mess of our clothes. After disturbing my folding time, she started harassing her daddy who was then busy watching DVD. She rest her back on her daddy’s back and make face at me. She spent the night teasing me. That’s what she does best aside from pouting!

She would place her hand on my tummy and endlessly say BABY, BABY. Don’t fret I am not pregnant yet, she does that to everybody and even to herself. She thought every tummy has a baby inside it. So funny because when asked how many baby brother she likes she would show her both hands and show 6 little fingers. :D

She clearly speaks OO (yes) with a very SHARP tongue which is very shameful for a Filipino household. Husband and I would follow up for an OPO (respectful yes in Filipino)which she will follow with a POPO. She now sings bahay kubo and can count from one to ten! She can sing lots of Barney songs and can speak red, orange and yellow and ends it with her famous pout!

I can say having our boss at home for 20 months has been the happiest and I am looking forward to more memorable months with her..

Brushing my Teeth

I introduced brushing to Yena when she was 15 months old, i guess that's a little bit late but that's when she showed real interest on brushing. I showed her her toothbrush way before her first birthday, but she kept on brushing things, the poor toothbrush accumulates dirt :D

At 18 months, she would ask for her toothbrush when she saw me or husband brushing our teeth. She would say tuu brush (tooth brush) and tuu pays (tooth paste) over and over again until you give her what she wants. Here's her picture one night when she tried to brush her teeth.and here's what i like listening over and over again,

Barney's Brushing my Teeth lyrics :)

Oh I'm brushing my teeth on top,
it's so much fun I hate to stop,
but while I'm brushing my teeth and having so much fun,
I never let the water run. No I never let the water run.

Oh, I'm brushing my teeth on the bottom,
cuz I wouldn't wanna say that I forgot em',
but while I'm brushing my teeth and having so much fun,
I never let the water run. No, I never let the water run.

Oh I'm brushing my teeth in back,
gotta get rid of all the plaque,
but while I'm brushing my teeth and having so much fun
I never let the water run. No I never let the water run.

Oh I'm brushing my teeth all around,
cuz I like to hear the squishing sound,
but while I'm brushing my teeth and having so much,
I never let the water run. Oh never let the water run.

They WERE our Shoes

but not anymore!

That's my husband's rubber shoes and my violet doll shoes..
Our daughter loves messing around the house. She gets them from the shoe rack and wears them. When asked 'Who owns that shoes' she would reply - AKEN! (mine)

So don't be surprise to see me and my husband walking bare footed soon!

Jump for Joy!

Yena loves being thrown up and away! But only her daddy can do such, i cannot carry her longer because of her weight. She is really getting heavier each day.

If only i can capture her endless giggles after each jump. She has such a lovely laugh.. And she talks so much nowadays. Talking to her is pure joy!

Talking with a Toddler

Yena's favorite word for the past few days is AYAW (NO). Ask her anything and she would reply with ayaw with her pouting mouth. An exception would be when you asked her for jelly ace, which is her current favorite snack or watching Barney. She wouldn't say NO to both.

What i love about my talking toddler is her calling mem mey and then point to anything that amazes her. Yesterday she called me out to tell me mem mey hikaw! (mommy, earring!) pointing at her own earrings and then at night the earring was lost! :) Might be dejavu! I have to learn my lesson next time.

Last night while am putting her to sleep she was talking non stop as if to get my attention. mem mey stars, mem mey moon.. When she calls me mem mey with a hand tugging at my front i know i have to reply back and said yes baby? and repeat her every word. I know she is just learning to talk and i am loving her being talkative at this early! :) I won't talk to thin air from now on ;) hahah

Girls can play swords too!

Playing with make believe that this hanger is a sword, our daughter gave one hanger to her daddy who was busy with the kitchen last sunday just to play SWORD! She said 'daddy laban!' (daddy, fight!)

And she was saying laban (fight) while i was trying to capture her here! laban?! Hitting me with a hanger! She won! aw! :)

I can wear my slippers all by myself!

Before turning 19 months old last saturday, my daughter Yena can wear her slippers independently! She used to going out of the house often, i told her she can't go out without her slippers on. So i would point her where her slippers were (which she knows how to keep outside our door or at the rack) and she would wear them like a pro! :) She didn't even tried a slipper with a garter at the back!

She would often mess around with our shoe rack and would always wear my sandals! She would point at her daddy's shoes and said "DADDY!" (that's daddy's shoes). She knows what's her things from our things. She would get one of her clothes and would say 'aken' (mine). She would point at our laundry clothes one by one and starts her endless chitchats of MOMMY, DADDY, AKEN. Setting aside each of our clothes! She can be very messy around the house but she is my little helper already! Am so glad i have a little girl at home! ;)

How about you? When did your toddler wear her slippers independently?

The Joy of Reading

While i was tending the kitchen one night, Yena kept on tugging my shorts down and was pointing to something. At first, her words weren't clear but as soon as my eyes took notice of the book at the top of the cabinet i knew at once that was what she wanted.

She said Book! Book! But with at blab blab blab (totally unclear to me) Am glad finally i understood. So nightly, when she's tired of playing, she would asked for these two books.
Last night, I was asking her if she wanted to watch Barney, she answered me back with not just a nod but also with a very loud OO (yes!) I told her to say; Yes Please. She said OO again!! The third time it was a harder OO already!
I kept on demanding her to say Yes Please. I told her she cant watch Barney without saying those two words. Then finally, she responded a loud PLIS! :)

A letter to my 15 months old daughter

Dearest my Yena,
Now you walk independently around the house and would dance while walking. Am so nervous to see you walk alone, but I realized falling is part of the process of learning how to walk. So am just looking at you eyes half closed. But you are showing you can do it, and yes you do it proudly every time but you always take my breath away. :)

You are so mature for fifteen months: Am so proud to share that one night upon arriving home from work you surprisingly gave daddy his pair of slippers and tried to slip them into his feet. And while I was washing the dishes one night you surprise me too when you wiped the wet floor with rugs beside my feet!! How did you learn to help around the house?! I know this is a good sign, I will have a little helper in you soon!

For many months now you watch Barney but now in full action, you are humming and dancing and lying in front means you are getting bored. You can play alone with your toys with less supervision. Though i have all my eyes fixed on you. And when I gave you a toy box to keep your toys, you did it! And create the mess again, I know that is the child in you!

Last night, I watched you sleep and smiled cause even if you occupy our whole bed, your daddy would wake up in the middle of the night and see you always at the farthest ends of the bed. You are very very mobile.

I know you understand every words we say cause you know already that a NO means to stop doing what you are not supposed to do, sometimes you would stop with a frown on your face. You would nod when asked if you like to have you milk. Your nods mean Yes to every question. When told to stop playing and its sleeping time already, with a pleading eyes you would lie down on your bed. You are very obedient child. When asked to wave hi or goodbye you would follow it with a flying kiss even when not asked. You are very familiar with WHERE word. When asked where is mom, dad, cousins, moon, stars, toys etc you would playfully point at them one by one!

You thought the little sto nino is also a kid like you. You would wave at every sto nino you see. And you adore pets so much, you are always delighted to touch them. You wave at fishes at the market and would beam at the biggest one. Pets have different names for you, we call cat as Garfield, dog as Yuki and cow as Mr Cow. You love to hug and kiss your teddy bear Chubby and rabbit stuff toy Christine. You know how to imitate the sound of a lizard, chicken, and cow. You snore loudly when asked what is the sound of sleeping yena. You would scream when asked what is the sound of a fish, coz mom was screaming while we were playing fishing game with our nancy laptop. :)

You are learning that a frown and firm words from daddy means to behave. I still remember when you threw a fit at first but now you are very tame when daddy is around. You are a little snob sometimes and am hoping that will change. I want you to grow to be friendly like your daddy. You are also a jealous little baby, coz you would cry when I would hug your cousins in front of you. I would laugh at you, feeling so high cause I know that as much as I love you, you love me too!

Know that for every step of the way, me and daddy will always be with you. WE love you so much our dear little boss of the house! Happy 15 months old!

Love,
Mommy
